It gives a picture of the dangers of travel only three months after Antwerp fell to Spain, and of the measures taken to establish security. It was no doubt aimed both at simple criminals who tried to take advantage of the chaos of the moment, and at Protestants still supporting the Dutch Republic who had gone underground with the fall of Antwerp.The leaves have been detached and mounted on hinges with some marginal restorations, without affecting the text. A rare ordinance on security measures after the fall of Antwerp.
