With 25 full-page plates of which 9 are in two states and mounted on boards, 7 are tinted, 7 coloured and num. text-illusts., all by the author. Printed on a fine and delicate paper. Two quarto pages with Errata notes written in pencil, presumably by the author, inserted opposite page 267. NOTE: The vellum binding is entirely painted in water-colour by the author and signed by him. The water-colours depict the fashion of the French nobility in the 17th or 18th century. Robida was a famous French author, engraver, lithographer and painter during the 2nd half of the 19th century. See "Benezit". A most unusual and desirable item in perfect condition.
