Title printed in red and black. Titlel leaf with two cut away names with old pasted paper repair with new names, some browning and spotting and a few contemporary underlinings. Contemporary full vellum, spine with ink lettering, all edges blue. Owner’s signature by Bengt Löw in pencil. Schweiger II, p. 725. Brunet IV, 575. First edition of this by Burman new compilate of older printed editions and comments of Petronius. A new edition in two parts was printed in 1743 and a third in 1781. The notes are to a large extant based on Heinsius and Schefferus. Petrus Burman (senior), (1668-1741) famous Dutch philologist. Born in Utrecht and educated there and in Leyden, he become in 1696 professor in History at Utrecht.
