Geneve, Barillot & fils, 1749. 4to. (8),+ xxiv,+ 624 pp. Title printed in red and black and with engr. vignette. Foxing and some stain, stain page 585 and “Table” (p i-xxiv) with damstain. Some marginal annotations in pencil, contemporary ink-annotations on front and end fly-leaf and end paste-down, also on an extra inserted leave. Somewhat worn contemporary full calf, spine gilt with a minor hole ín upper compartment, joints with tear, boards with mirror and with blind-stamped fleurons, red edges. From the library of Gabriel Seigneux de Correvon, with his signature and -probably- his large engraved heraldric bookplate with Coat-of-Arms and the inbitials “G. S.” The “G” is filled with ink and changed to a “q”. With his ink-annotations on front- and end fly-leafs and on end paste-down and on an extra inserted leave. Later, in 1922, bought by Baron de Nordenskjöld, with note in ink on front fly-leaf. PMM 197 for first edition 1748. Brunet III, 1859. This is the first one volume edition. Gabriel Seigneux de Correvon (1695-1776), Swiss learned and aristocratic cosmopolit. Author of several books and articles and translator, and with a lively correspondence through Europe.
