For this work, which goes far beyond a topographical description of ancient Europe Cluver was awarded the 'Geographus Academicus' and became professor at the university of Leyden. A second edition was published in 1631. From a swedish point of view, Georg Stiernhielm wrote his “Anticluverius”, published in Stockholm by Hadorph in 1685, against it and its thesis that the origin of the Goths was to be found - not in Sweden - but in northern Germany.
