Small Octavo in an attractive modern half calf and marbled boards with four colour lithograph plates and folding map, outlined in colour. AB 12899. Account by the commander of the 'Pioneer' of the Franklin search expedition, under Capt. H. T. Austin. The search in the 'Resolute' and 'Assistance' with the tender 'Pioneer' made their way to winter quarters at Griffith Island via Baffin Bay, Lancaster Sound, and Barrow Strait before returning. The account includes descriptions of the West Greenland Eskimos, ice conditions in the Canadian Arctic, and accounts of their sledge journeys.
