Octavo in two volumes (22.5 x 14 cm.) with folding map and 2 folding plates (one in colour). Bound in simulated vellum. This voyage resulted in the solving of the mysterious loss of la Perouse and his expedition. After having found articles which once belonged to la Perouse, Dillon was appointed to the survey vessel Research, by the Bengal Government, for further investigation. He found the wreck of one of la Perouse's ships and brought back the news to Dumont d'Urville, who was visiting Hobart Town, Tasmania at the time. Series: Bibliotheca Australiana53-54.
