Toronto Arctic History Press 1979, 1st edition limited to 1000 numbered copies. (Hardcover in slipcase) 230pp. Near fine. Octavo. Plates, illustrations in text, and four folding maps. Gilt lettered padded blue leatherette in matching slipcase; minor bruising head of spine. Copy #649/1000. W. J. S. Pullen & W. H. Hooper set out in boats from HMS "Plover" (Wainwright, Alaska), in the summer of 1849 and ascended the MacKenzie River. Pullen wintered at Ft. Simpson and the following summer they descended the MacKenzie, searching as far as Cape Bathurst before re-ascending the MacKenzie and returning to England via York Factory. This is the first publication of Pullen's journals. Selected and Introduced by H. F. Pullen.
