Muir, John.
STICKEEN.
1909 Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1909. Eighth impression. In this beloved tale, naturalist John Muir (1838-1914) recounts how he and an unimposing little black dog named Stickeen struggled to cross an Alaskan glacier during a perilous ice storm. Widely popular in its day, this remains one of the great dog stories of all time. Boldly signed by Muir on the front flyleaf. Tan cloth binding, with brown lettering. With just a hint of moisture to the cloth along the fore-edge of the rear board; otherwise a very good copy, housed in a striking custom-made one-quarter tan leather over oak board slipcase. Kimes, W.F. & M.B.: John Muir: A Reading Bibliography, #281.
