Kerouac, Jack.

LONESOME TRAVELER.

1960 1st Illustrated with drawings by Larry Rivers. New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1960. Firstedition. A collection of travel sketches, including Kerouac's account of his experiences as a laborer on the railroads in California, along with the articles "New York Scenes" (previously published as "The Beat Nightlife of New York") and "The Vanishing American Hobo," in which Kerouac (1922-69) found a way to convey even more spontaneous composition as he sat at the typewriter taking dictation from Allen Ginsberg, Peter Orlovsky, and Gregory Corso. Just a hint of wear to the spine ends. The dust jacket is lightly edgeworn, with some minor foxing overall, a one-inch scuff to the rear panel, a two-inch tear to the bottom of the rear spine fold, and a single tape reinforcement to the verso; otherwise a clean and crisp, very good copy. Charters, A.: Jack Kerouac: A Bibliography, #A13a.
