Buchanan, William (d. 1747).
Historical and genealogical essay upon the family and surname of Buchanan. To which is added a brief inquiry into the genealogy and present state of ancient Scottish surnames, and more particularly of the Highland clans.

Worn leather mended at spine with brown library tape. Hinges cracked. Engraved frontispiece depicting Buchanan coat of arms + pp. [i]-vi, 1-238 & [2] pp. index. 20 x 13.4 cm. Includes accounts of families MacAuselan, MacMillan, MacColman, Spittel, MacMaurice, MacAndeoir, MacChruiter, and MacGreusich. A note states: “This book was first published in 1723. A second edition appeared in 1773…. And in 1829 it was published in the fourth volume of ‘Miscellanea Scotica,’ by Robert Chapman, Glasgow…. [This edition] is not offered for sale to the public.”
