Hardcover. 1/2 leather scuffed & worn at edges, matching endpapers sl. torn, cut in front endpaper, attractive spine with raised bands and gilt-tooled design. Owner's sig. on front and back endpaper. First and last pages foxed, a few pages torn at edges, some red underlining, ink sig. p. 7, frontis. has tear in margin. Author invented the Double Cranks, permitting the drawing of numerous mathematical curves, which he systematized into four equal cases (e.g., "Equal concave arcal motion"). Publisher is nephew and successor to Josiah Taylor.
