Paris chez de Bure, Fils 1776, xxxii, 544 p. 20 cm. New edition. Hardcover. Full leather binding, front board off, spine chipped. Owner's sig. on t.p., bookseller sticker inside front board (J. & O. Cremazie, Quebec). Stain p. 186-194, faint stains elsewhere. The first edition of this book was in 1748. It contains a series of lectures on the law relating to buildings. Desgodets delivered these lectures to the students at the Academie Royale d'Architecture. Desgodets went to Rome and produced measured drawings of extant classical buildings, producing the work "Les edifices antiques de Rome". On his return from Rome he became architect to the King and later a professor at the Academie. Goupy edited these lectures for publication, bringing them up to date and adding comments of his own and a biographical note on Desgodets.
