MORHAN, Henry J.
Sketches of Celebrated Canadians, and Persons Connected with Canada, From the Earliest Period in the History of the Province Down to the Present Time
Quebec Hunter, Rose & Co. 1862, xiii, 779 (4)p. Some foxing, some cracking at signatures, spine faded, hinges cracked. TPL 4164. Page 110 appears as 10, p. 337 mispaged as 327 as in first TPL copy listed. Short biographies of figures of significance to Canada, from those commonly found to those now forgotten, such as the Commodore Downie, who was in command of the fleet on the lakes of Canada in 1812. "It is a notorious fact that the carpenters were still at work on board the Confiance, his flag-ship, when he advanced to meet the enemy, who had a force greatly superior." Very interesting and readable.
