Nesbit and Norman Gale with drawings by Hilda Cowham, S. J. Cash and Mabel L. Attwell. The Attwell b&w illustration on page 72, depicting a mother and her children, is especially endearing. Black Americana (minstrelsy, golliwog) pages 27, 31 and 42 by H. Dix Sandford. Includes stories "Santa Claus' Wonderful Present", "Three Little Pigs", "The Daisy's Day", "Princess Iolanthe", "Two Little Anglers"; and poems "Fairy Island", "The Goose Boy", "Trouble" (illustrated by Attwell), "Off to Meet Daddy", "In the Meadow", "De Handy Man," "The Nervous Walrus", "A Hot Time", "The Wise Hollyhock", "Prince Charming", "A Squall on the High C", "The Snowball", "Sea Song" (by E. Nesbit); interspersed with short comic items. Cat-silhouettes by Cowham very similar to signature drawing of L. M. Montgomery, which she used when signing her name (see p. 15 and 45). The Christmas theme adds to the irresistible charm of this volume.
