London John Land the Bodley Head Limited 1924, xviii, 279 p. 25 cm. 28 gorgeous b&w plates by HenryKeen. First Illustrated Edition. Black cloth. Dust jacket in good condition, minor chips at top of spine. Boards gently scuffed. Small stains and thumbprints. Introduction by T. E. Lawrence. Originally published with just sixteen stories, after the author's death in 1906 another twelve stories were added, gathered from various magazines. The author was a much treasured librarian at the British Museum, where he developed his love of literature. An attractive example of the Bodley Head company at its best.
