Title vignette, text illustrations, 1 portrait, 8 full-page illustrations. This set is lacking the map of the Oregon Territory that should be laid in. Tan cloth lettered in gilt. A fine set. Description of Oregon by Wilkes, who led the American expedition around the world aboard the "Vicennes" in 1838. Taken from the 4th volume of the Expedition's 5 volume "Narrative," first published in 1844. Winner of the Western Book Award.
