Beyond the numerous early photographs of Puget Sound natives, there are an abundance of accurate illustrations of Indian implements, tools and weapons drawn from life by Eells, missionary to the Puget Sound Indians and pioneering ethnologist. The photographs, sketches and notes were selected from Eells' original hand written six volumes; most of the sketches have never before appeared in print.
