Frontis and illustrations. ¶ Field’s first major publication, a collection of his humorous squibs and articles from the Chicago Daily News which poke fun at Chicago and the foibles and pretensions of its residents. Culture’s Garland immediately brought Field to the forefront of American humorists. Wrappers slightly worn; fine copy, enclosed in a green cloth clamshell box.
