London: Trubner & Co., 1857. First edition. Parrish, page 197; Sadlier, Excursions in Victorian Bibliography, page 161; but not in Sadlier (XIX Century) or Wolff, both of whom had a number of works by Reade. 3 vols, 8vo, original blind-stamped green cloth (a little rubbed and soiled; front free endpapers repaired with matching paper where a signature was clipped), gilt lettering. ¶ A novel based on the plot of Reade’s play, written with August Maquet, The Double Marriage, and one of the controversial plots which Reade was accused of “borrowing.” Very good copy.
