NCBEL II, 809. 2 vols, 8vo, contemporary sprinkled calf, black leather labels, gilt rules and lettering. ¶ 19 of Foote’s most famous plays, including The Minor, The Englishman in Paris and the Englishman Returned from Paris. For his humor and wit and ability at portraying contemporary manners, Foote was nicknamed the “English Aristophanes.” Contemporary bookplate on the front paste-downs. Edges slightly worn; very good copy.
