Bound volume of engraved sheet music with 17 separate complete works (and other imperfect ones), including eight songs adapted from Scott's works (one imperfect), two from Ossian and one from Burns.
London: various imprints, 1808-1813. .¶ A nice contemporary gathering of sheet music, which has three songs from Scott's The Lay of the Last Minstrel, three from Rokeby and two from Marmion, in addition to other Scottish favorites by Ossian and Burns. Seven of the eight songs from Scott were composed by John Clarke; the other, from Rokeby, by J. A. Stevenson. See Todd & Bowen 14Do[1]; 14Do[2]; 64Dk[4]; 64Dk[2]; 28Dw[1] & 28Ds[2]-[3]. The other two are not in Todd & Bowen. Folio, contemporary black quarter calf, marbled sides. ¶ Ownership signature of “Mr. Southall / No. 9 1817” on the front paste-down. A more detailed list is available upon request. Binding well worn, but sound; a few gathering starting; one leaf detached.
