BAL 9560; Smith, American Travellers Abroad, H143. 8vo, original decorated green cloth, gilt lettering. ¶ Howells’ fourth book and his second about Italy, both of which were based on experiences when he was the American consul at Venice. This expanded edition was issued in an elaborately decorated binding similar to three other works by Howells published at about the same time by Osgood. Slilght traces of damp-stains in a few upper margins; fine copy.
