Keynes, page 74; Fleeman 87.3W/22a. 11 volumes, 8vo, later blue half morocco by Sotheran, blue cloth sides, gilt decorated and lettered spines, t.e.g. Engraved frontis portrait by W. H. Worthington after Joshua Reynolds. ¶ The handsome Pickering edition of Johnson's works, issued in the Oxford English Classics series, edited by Oxford Professor Francis Pearson Walesby and considered one of the best and most complete editions in its time. The title-page on volume 1 states this edition is in nine volumes, but two additional volumes were added with the Parliamentary debates. Just the slightest wear to the edges; in fine condition.
