American Imprints 39050; Cagle, A Matter of Taste, 768. 8vo, original rose linen spine, tan boards and printed paper label, untrimmed. Two frontispieces after sketches by Robert Cruikshank, repeated as plates in the text. ¶ An entertaining culinary grab-bag, with chapters on the early writers on diet, Roman customs in eating and drinking, a history of toothpicks, cookery and poetry, curious antiquarian books on cooking, etc. The author of this collection of history, lore, anecdotes and witticisms has never been identified. Binding a little rubbed and soiled; some foxing; very good copy.
