LOCKE, JOHN

Some Thoughts Concerning Education.

London: Printed for A. and J. Churchill, 1695. Third edition, enlarged. Yolton 162; Wing L-2763. Small 8vo, recent full mottled calf period style (by Philip Dusel), red morocco label, gilt decorations and lettering. ¶ The first edition of Locke's famous work appeared in 1693, and he was so displeased by its errors that a second edition, corrected but little changed, appeared the same year. This third edition is considerably enlarged. The author's Epistle Dedicatory is addressed to Edward Clarke, whose children were the subject of advice given by Locke in a series of letters written in 1684, from which developed this book. A fine, handsome copy.
