Jelleff's Patent Revolving Interest Table . . . [cover-title].
Middlebury, Vt.: Printed for T. C. Strong, for L. Walker . . . for the New England States, [c. 1815]. First edition. McCorison, Vermont Imprints, 1747. A volvelle of three 7-13/16 inch paper printed circular wheels, held together with three brass studs in the center, around which are numbers and tables. ¶ A volvelle for calculating interest, with the outside wheels stationary and the center one movable in a circle. This example was well used and is chipped, rubbed and somewhat worn, but it nonetheless is in perfect working order. An early owner has made some manuscript additions to the tables, and on the movable center wheel has added the printed word “GOLD” in one of the columns - probably a joke, in reference to a roulette wheel, which this movable device resembles. ¶ Timothy C. Strong was a printer in Middlebury, Vt., from circa 1811 to 1817.
