Blackall (1654-1716) was chosen to deliver the seven lectures on the existence of God for the Boyle series in 1700. This honor was bestowed to him largely due to his controversial defense of religion in response to the Irish deist John Toland who had asserted that parts of the New Testament were forgeries. Fine copy.
