Paris: A. and W. Galignani, 1828. First French edition, Galignani issue. BAL 10258. 4 vols, 8vo, contemporary red cloth, gilt decorated and lettered spines. Two folding maps. ¶ There were two French issues of Columbus in 1828, the same year as the American and English editions, apparently using the same sheets with variant imprints of either Galignani or Baudry (priority not known). Edges a little rubbed; light damp-stain to the cover and first few leaves of vol. 4; very good set.
