Sadleir 712; Wolff 1836. 3 vols, 8vo, original red cloth (slightly spotted and soiled), silver lettering. ¶ Disraeli’s last novel, for which he was paid the then enormous sum of £10,000. Like many of his novels, the 19th century social and political scene plays an important role, and characters include figures based on Rothschild, Cobbett and Thackeray, among others. Very good copy.
