He was one of the founders of constructivism and Russian design; he was married to the artist Varvara Stepanova. b.1891, St. Petersburg; d.1956, Moscow Studied in Kazan (1910-14) and at the Stroganov School (1914-17). Secretary of theÅeleft federationÅfunion of professional artists and member of the Fine Arts Department of Narkompros (1917-18). Taught painting theory in the school-studio of Proletkult in Moscow (1918). Member of the group behind the founding of INKhUK (1920-30). Taught at the VKhUTEMAS / VKhUTEIN in Moscow (1920-30). From 1924 worked with photography. Participant in exhibitions from 1913: Shop (1916), 10th State Exhibition ÅgNon-Objective Creativity and SuprematismÅh(1919), Obmokhu (1920-21 ), 5 x 5=25 (1921), exhibition at the 3rd International (organiser and participant, 1921), Exhibition of Theatrical Design 1918-23 (1923), Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs in Paris (1925), Soviet Photography of the Last Ten Years (1928), Twenty Years of the Work of V. Mayakovsky (1930), photographic exhibitions of the October group etc. First and Second prizes in a competition for the design for newspaper kiosks (1918) and gained worldwide fame for his Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs in Paris(1925).

I have been dealing in rare European and American antiquarian books and works of art on paper from the sixteenth to the twentieth century for thirty years.
