Monterrey, México 1871- d. Los Angeles, CA 1946) presented in this edition reflect the influence that his years spent in Europe had on his art while at the same time his constant search to portrait a Mexican identity. Ramos Martínez was director of the San Carlos Academy of Art and in 1922 founded the first of his Schools of Open Air Painting, which encouraged students to work outdoors. Muralist David Alfaro Siquieros was one of his first students. In 1930 he moved to California, USA where he painted portraits of celebrities and murals with Mexican motifs.
