Heavily and substantively annotated in an unidentified, contemporary, hand in margins and on the verso of one plate; there are 78 separate entries comprising some 5000 words, commenting on most of the subjects addressed by Ferguson and making specific references to other works. A very bright mind from a simple background, Ferguson became well known in astronomy and other sciences and was noted for clarity in writing and teaching. Recent calf, period-style, leather spine label & gilt rules on spine; most of the plates soiled and somewhat worn along overlapping outer edges (without loss of image). A very good copy.
