Other books by Kirwan, an Irish scientist, member of the Royal Society and a Royal Irish Academy president, include Elements of Minerology (London, 1784), considered by Lowndes "a very valuable work." American Imprints 12870. Thomas Jefferson owned two copies of this title (Sowerby 716, Poor 256), one of them the 1796 London edition. A good number of intitutional locations, but quite scarce in trade; we find no auction record during the past 40 years. (ABPC, 1955-1998). Small 8vo. 94 pp. Contemporary calf (spine head a bit worn), morocco spine label; name eradicated at head of title page, else an attractive copy.
