Pencil notations on page 47, which are about the meeting time and place for the (Chickasaw) Supreme Court, leads one to believe with the markings on the front cover this was the courts copy. The Chickasaws were a negro slave-holding nation, who had joined with the Confederate States. This collection contains the 1866 treaty with the United States, which includes the freeing of slaves. OCLC lists copies at YUS, LNN, LAW, KUK, LNL, HVL, MLL, ODH. Hargrett adds Chicago Law Institute, Kansas Historical, Michigan Univ. Law, Assoc. of the Bar of New York City, and the Thomas Gilcrease Foundation. Hargrett 93. 8vo. 212 pp. Full leather, period binding. Boards with leather worn through and joints cracked. Supreme Court written on front board. Foxing throughout, some minor spotting.
