He served as solicitor- general, attorney-general, and superior court judge, before his removal to Tennessee. His writings on the laws of both these states reflect his mastery of legal opinion. Two volumes, bound in one. Second edition, corrected to the present time. 8vo.; iv, 263; 255pp. Full leather; gilt stamped red morocco spine label. Some crackling to spine; persistent browning to text, with old tidelines to upper page margins and gutters of sections of the text. Upper outer corner of one page lacking, with the loss of a letter or two. Contemporary owner's name stamp on front endpapers and title page, as well as owner's signature on head of title page.
