Martineau "was chiefly successful in stories designed to popularize economic subjects, which show her as an ardent advocate of social reform" (Oxford Companion to English Literature). OCLC locates eight copies (California-Berkeley, California- Santa Barbara, Yale, Chicago, Notre Dame, Harvard, Western Reserve Historical Society, New Hampshire State Library), but records a few more locations under the series title. 12mo. (4), 181 pp. Original brown cloth, printed paper spine label (somewhat rubbed); some browning and light staining to the text, otherwise a very good copy.
