Printed and sold by James Humphries, Philadelphia: 1802. First American edition (first published the previous year in London). Henry (1774-1836) studied at the University of Edinburgh, published a number of works related to medicine and chemistry, and worked with his father's chemical business; this work went through eleven editions by 1829 (cf. DNB). American Imprints 2394. 12mo in sixes. ix, [13]-214 pp. Ad leaf. Original sheep (rubbed, joints cracking). Still a solid copy.
