Henry St. George Tucker (1780-1848), a native of Virginia, served in the Virginia House of Delegates, the U.S. Congress, on the bench of the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, and from 1841 until his retirement in 1845, he was a distinguished professor of law at the Univ. of Virginia. (see DAB) First edition. Small 8vo.; 242pp. Errata slip laid down on blank rear flyleaf. Plain plum colored cloth (spine faded to brown). Library bookplate on front pastedown (stamped "withdrawn"); foxing. Contemporary ownership signature of Univ. of Virginia Law student John Wingfield at head of title page (a later inscription from Jno. Wingfield of Washington, GA, dated Jan. 1891on front flyleaf). A good copy.
