Ulloa (1716-1795), Spanish explorer and scientist, made several trips to South America, examining here the customs of the Indians, while describing the natural history of the area now roughly defined as Peru and Ecuador. Sabin 36806 Thomas Jefferson owned a copy of the first edition (Sowerby 4123). Small 4to. (16), 342 pp. Old leather (rubbed and worn, substanial worming along the spine), leather spine label (wormed; old tidelines through text, some browning, hinges rather crudely repaired. Good copy only.
