J.W. Randolph, Richmond: 1862. Second Confederate edition (first published in August, Georgia, in 1861). 12mo.96 pp. This copy owned by a Confederate surgeon, signed on the front endpaper "F.P. Leverett / Surgeon P.A. / Richmond / Va. / Aug. 1862." At the outbreak of war Leverett resided in St. Helena Parish, South Carolina; he served with his home state units in Virginia and died in Richmond in 1864. Parrish 6120 (Huntington, Connecticut Historical Society, Library of Congress, Georgia, National Library of Medicine, Duke, South Carolina, Texas-Austin, Virginia Historical Society). Original muslin boards (rubbed), printed label on upper cover; text browned, but a very good copy of one of the scarcest Confederate surgical manuals.
