Montreal Dawson Brothers 1883, First Edition Cloth - first Canadian edition, preceeding the American edition by a few days and after the Chatto and Windus ed. by a day or so - cluster published by Twain in a sucessful move to break the backs of his tenacious pirates - here for the first time - Twain showed up in Ottawa upon publication to firm up his legal position and copyright protection . - red morocco grained cloth, handsome pictoral title page, - the Canadian edition differs typographically from the Amer. and the UK editions - BAL 3411 - note - an unusually nice, tight copy, spine a bit discoloured, hinges expertly restored, very nice copy - chapter 31 portrays the first fictional use of fingerprints to solve a crime !
