NY Covici Fried 1936, Dust Jacket Included Cloth - second edition - blue cloth in the colourful djwithout a publisher's imprint on the spine or flaps - dj corners clipped as issued - front panel has the notation " author of " Of Mice and Men " below his name - [ published in 1937 ] - laid in is a brochure from the Doubleday One Dollar Book Club - dated June 1938 indicating that they have taken on this Covici title for their membership - a substantial 5 pp. of text about the book and its author - illustrated with a photo of Steinbeck and paintings of buccaneers by both Pyle and Kidder . - ironically a blurb printed here mentions the inflated prices that Steinbeck's first editions are already bringing - " St. Katy...and The Red Pony " - spine gilt with minor oxidization, two dark spots in front gutter from binders glue else a fine fresh copy in same dj - not quite perfect - brochure very fine - a rare bibliographic combination .
