Toronto Ontario Arts Council 1972, First Edition objet d' art - 5 x 7 x 1-1/4 " box with sliding tray to resemble an old style box of strike anywhere wooden matches . Colourful moose on top with banners announcing Moose Brand Canadian Flag Matches - inside are a few dozen old wooden matches with blue & red tips - with a bundle/pad of glue backed Canadian Flag strips of paper - the paper flag is meant to be licked at the end and wrapped around a match - of course when the match is struck the flag burns .laid in as issued is a bio sketch of the artist - which illustrates the match box - also laid in is an illustrated [ Greg Curnoe ? ] instruction card - with a history of the Object's evolution - ending with " And remember, a pious pompous self indulgent state is a sorry state indeed. " - This well known artist was a founding member with Greg Curnoe of the notorious musical/artists group " The Nihilist Spasm Band " - a real favourite on the 1960's Avante-Garde art scene ( and still ) - a blues/rock/jazz band of homemade instruments - a more musical "Fugs " - with Boyle playing the electric kazoo, thumb harp, and finger piano . - a near fine art object with only a couple of flags burn't - for demonstration purposes only - a 1960's cultural icon - an early Canadian Fluxus Box that is RARE .
