London Longmans, Green & Co. 1881, First Edition Cloth Very Good - 1881 to 1890 - 8 volumes original extra gilt red cloth over bevelled boards - teg - tissue guarded steel frontispieces, with vignette title pages - each volume separately paginated & extensively indexed - 288 / 313 / 297 / 313 / 334 pages + ads & - 291 / 290 / 289 pages + ads - illustrated with hundreds of engraved plates and as many in-text woodcuts, 37 fine steel plates - ( including 7 coloured cold plates - Coats of Arms, and archetectural views ) - lithographs - many photogravures, 1 platinotype, and some actual tipped-in photographs - each volume contains variously Yorkshire characters, worthies, events and antiquities of history, Military battles, numismatics, peculiar Yorkshire etymology and customs, the BRONTES, Salmon Rivers, Agricultural Commons, Deer parks, domestic and public archetecture, Churches, flora & fauna, Druidical Legends, ornimental Hermits & Monks, Gallows, and all manor of curiosia, city & town maps, folding plans, etc. - all articules written by better known Yorkshire authors - 8 volumes, a couple of hinges tender but strong, bit of fading to spines, minor fraying repaired - a very nice complete set and uncommon thus - [ only about a thousand copies of each volume printed ] - postage at cost or less - Digital photos available for serious inquires - complete sets are rarely offered, especially so in this great condition
