Swayne 1868, First Edition Cloth Very Good - rare Burns variant first edition - has the British imprint on the title page ( John Dicks ) and in the American binding of blue gilt & blind stamped cloth, with the New York imprint of W. W. Swayne at the base of the spine - this copy is complete with the rare double four fold frontis that measures 14 x 20 inches, containing 14 vignettes around a central portrait of Burns - printed on cheap, thin but remarkably serviceable paper - folds have repairs with tissue tape - 229 pages printed in micro-type, index & ads - Dicks market was the working class, & the just plain poor - cheap cloth somewhat worn at the spine tips else a good to vg copy - rarely seen with the huge frontis.
