With an engraved portrait of the author and a number of fold-out illustrations, including a "Pedigree of Milton" showing his family tree as well as a facsimilie of the agreement between Milton and Symens. Handsomely bound in later brown calf by Birdsall, with gilt on panels and spine, red and brown morocco spine labels, raised bands, gilt turn-ins, and marbled endpapers. Occasional scuffing, owner's inscription in a neat hand on two preliminary blanks in volume one, else a fine set. A.e.g. Bookplate.
