NY Hurd & Houghton 1866 Octavo. (ii) 16 pp. Frontispiece and five color plates from illustrations by H.L. Stephens. This is presumably the first edition of this title to contain Stephens's illustrations. The artist is best known for his illustrations for Aesop's Fables, and lent his talent to the abolitionist movement. Scarce: only three copies recorded in institutions. Bound in publisher's terracotta cloth, stamped in blind and gilt, which shows light soiling, chipping and a touch of wear. Light internal spotting. Nearly fine.
