NY Ballantine Books (1955) First edition. Published later in England as The Chrysalids. A novella that continued Wyndham's post World War II thematic approach to science fiction, in which the story is shaped by a catastrophic event -- in this case, a post-nuclear mutant uprising. This is one of only two Wyndham titles to be published in hardcover by Ballantine. This copy shows the typical text block browning from poor quality paper, otherwise fine in green cloth, and equally fine d/w which has just the slightest hint of wear to spine ends. (Barron 3-200).
