[CAXTON, WILLIAM]. Duff, E. Gordon.
William Caxton.
Chicago (Lakeside Press) 1905 Quarto. 118pp. One of 252 copies printed for the Caxton Club by R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. at Lakeside Press, 148 of which bear an original leaf from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. However, a leaf from the Polychronicon of 1482, also printed by Caxton, has made its way into this copy. Minor fraying to spine and cover edges, lower inner hinge split, else nearly fine in quarter red cloth and green boards. The leaf, inserted into the rear pastedown envelope, is from Liber Primus and contains a 2-line rubricated initial capital and numerous, rubricated parafs. The leaf, which has been remargined shows marginalia in a contemporary hand and some minor spotting. (see BCC #9; see Chalmers 11).
